Catholic Life and RE at

Sacred Heart

Catholic Life and RE at Sacred Heart is provided in accordance with the requirements of the Roman Catholic Church as directed by the Bishop of Middlesbrough.

There are regular school Masses at church and in school to which all parents are invited.

Parents entering their children in Sacred Heart are expected to fulfill the promises that they made at their child's Baptism.

Father James Blenkinsopp

Father James is our parish priest and our Chaplain and he is a regular visitor in school and classes.

He is readily available for children, staff and parents to talk with. His presence in school enthuses our students and ensures our faith is always visible and lived out.

The Parish supports many events in school, such as Mini-Vinnies, Lenten Lunches, Faith in Action Team, celebrating Mass in school, First Holy Communion preparation and supporting the RE curriculum in school.

Pope Francis

Pope Francis is the 266th and current Pope of the Catholic Church having been elected Bishop of Rome. He is thereby also the Sovereign of Vatican City.

A visit to Sacred Heart School by Bishop Terence,

The Bishop  Of Middlesbrough

It was a great pleasure to welcome Bishop Terence to Sacred Heart. He visited all the classes and talked to staff and pupils; the Bishop was very patient answering all of the children’s interesting and varied questions!

We all had a wonderful afternoon meeting the Bishop. He visited each class and talked to the children about their work. The Bishop met with pupils, staff, governors and parents after the Advent Liturgy.

Bishop Terence attended our 2nd Advent Liturgy led by class 2. He brought his Crosier and talked to the children about how to be a good shepherd.

Afterwards, we invited Bishop Terence to join us for  tea, coffee and biscuits  with governors and parents.
